Centaur Media plc (“Centaur”) and its subsidiary companies (the “Group”) are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains.
Business and Organisational Structure
Centaur is evolving from a traditional publishing and events business into a B2B business information group. Centaur’s principal activities are the provision of business information, events and marketing solutions to selected professional markets. Our business is organised into three market segments: Marketing; Professional Services and Financial Services.
Centaur Media plc is the holding company of the Group. Centaur Communications Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Centaur Media plc, is the main operating company for the Group.
Centaur is headquartered in London, where approximately59% of employees are based, and has other smaller offices in Portsmouth, UK; New York, USA; and Singapore. The Group had an annual reported revenue of £72.6 million for the year ended 31 December 2017. On a continuing operations basis revenue was £65.4m following the disposal of Home Interest during 2017.
Our Supply Chain
The services provided to the Group by suppliers include print and distribution of our products, IT services, venue hire, event/exhibition set-up services (including stand and shell scheme fitting and electrical installation) and building facilities support (including cleaners, security and office furniture). In addition, the Group also uses IT contractors and consultants in parts of the business.
Goods purchased by the Group include IT equipment and merchandise for our events and exhibitions. These are typically purchased from large multinational corporations which have their own supply chain principles and ethical standards.
Given the nature and primary locations of Centaur’s business, we believe the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain is very low compared with businesses operating in other sectors and geographies.
Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy and training
Centaur adopted an Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy (the “Policy”) in 2017 which was made available to all employees on Centaur’s intranet. Information of this Policy, and on the risk our business faces from modern slavery in its supply chains, will form part of the induction process for all new employees who join us.
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business, training on our Policy has been provided to key individuals within the business. The Group also has a Whistleblowing Policy enabling employees to raise concerns about any suspicion of modern slavery in any parts of our business or supply chains in a confidential and secure manner.
Where possible, we contract with suppliers using our standard terms and conditions which require suppliers and their sub-contractors, among other things, to adhere to all laws and regulations related to human trafficking and slavery offences including the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Centaur Media plc’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2017 and was approved by the Board on 3 May 2018
