Purpose of Role

To support business growth through the efficient and effective use of audience data. Take responsibility for the processes and systems used to collect, process and interpret our audience data.  Deliver an analytics strategy, ensuring that we have the leading-edge audience measurement and analytics capabilities to influence key decisions.

Key Accountabilities for the Successful Senior Data Executive:

  • Monitor and develop processes for collecting, checking and cleansing data together with appropriate best practice guidelines and permissions
  • Support business requests ensuring the team delivers quality actionable knowledge and insight on time, and through the appropriate technologies
  • Control how and where audience data is being used, looking for efficiencies throughout the process
  • Drive the use of data and analytics by monitoring data requests, and by highlighting and promoting best practice across all business units
  • Seek to democratize data through the user of visualizations, and operationalizing key datasets
  • Use audience data to support the subscriptions team and provide key client reporting and insights
  • Proactively generate approaches  which will help drive understanding of client and audience engagement
  • Manage the web analytics reporting, maintaining a high level overview of key business metrics, ensuring that the end users have the data structure reports they require, and that the site tagging reflects how the business operates

Key Skills & Knowledge:


  • Ability to design and deliver fit for purpose data structures to support good management decisions
  • Experienced with at least one of the following technologies:-
    • SQL and working with relational databases
    • Web analytics and tag management (GA, Adobe or Webtrends)
    • Data visualizations (Tableau, Qlik or Power BI)
    • Data segmentation & selection (Faststats or Alterian)
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially excel (VBA experience an advantage)
  • Background in analytical data manipulation on large marketing databases
  • Strong bias for action
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Innovative and commercial
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the business


  • Experience of preparing for and presenting to senior leaders
  • Proven track record in delivering business improvements through fit-for-purpose analysis
