As a Research Manager, you will play an important role in delivering subscriber research and content that serves the needs of Econsultancy’s customers – all about the latest digital marketing trends and best practices.

You will produce and manage in-depth, insightful and appealing reports, analysis and presentations about trends and best practices in digital marketing to keep our subscribers up-to-date in a fast-moving industry.  You will work closely with the Research Director, the Research team and freelancers to add value whenever possible.

Key aspects to this role

  • Support Research Director, including:Project management
  • Reviewing, evaluating and editing proposals and content (either independently or collaboratively with the team) and providing timely feedback
  • Briefing some reports
  • Helping identify quality freelance writers and relevant interviewees
  • Contributing ideas for content calendar
  • Helping team members as and when needed
  • Financial and legal administration
  • Play a key role in the creation of content and insights for our subscribers during the course of the year:Take responsibility for delivering at least 4-5 key reports per year from conception to completion (including writing the reports) on key topics of interest to our subscribers
  • Provide insightful answers to queries from clients/subscribers to Research Team
  • Conduct market research:Design research (questionnaires, discussion guides), monitor response and completion rates
  • Conduct interviews with report contributors
  • Collect, clean, analyse and interpret survey data to turn it into interesting insights for our reports
  • Present/speak at a selection of events (e.g. host some Econsultancy round-tables and webinars about digital marketing/eCommerce topics relevant to our subscribers)

Core skills, Knowledge and Mindset


  • Knowledge of and passion for digital marketing and eCommerce to help maintain and enhance Econsultancy’s position as a renowned thought leader
  • Ability to manage own and others’ projects from conception of research and methodology to presentation and amplification of content
  • Bachelor’s degree or above, ideally in a subject relevant to this role
  • First-class written English
  • Strong writing, editing and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience conducting research, ideally both quantitative and qualitative
  • Team player who enjoys working collaboratively – working well with other teams (e.g. sales, blog, product and marketing) as well as other research team members to help ensure that the research team’s performance is excellent and meets subscribers’ needs
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, capable of creating and managing own workload
  • Very well organised and able to meet deadlines


  • Experience using Surveygizmo and Qualtrics
  • Experience using a CMS
  • Experience interviewing professionals about complex topics and extracting interesting insights
  • Experience managing contributors/freelancers
