This year’s PPA Festival saw 700 consumer magazine and business media professionals come together at London’s Tobacco Club for the magazine media event of the year. Andria Vidler, Centaur Media CEO, was invited to deliver the keynote, setting the agenda and tone of the day.
MediaTel’s Dominic Mills captured the essence of the speech “Centaur CEO Andria Vidler outlined how not just her brands in the B2B space, but others like What Car? and HSJ were at the forefront of an e-commerce shift. This, she said, was all about turning passive readers into active consumers. Since magazine brands are based on communities of interest, there are many titles that can follow the same route.” https://mediatel.co.uk/newsline/2018/05/11/magazines-forget-eyeballs-its-attention-that-matters/.
The keynote points to opportunities lifting the magazine industry which as part of the fast-growing creative services industry contributes £91 billion to the UK economy, and to the recent pledge by the UK government of a landmark £150 million deal with the sector to develop creative clusters nationwide and roll out creative careers and businesses. The deal aims to double Britain’s share of the "global creative content market" by 2025.
Andria examines opportunities for the magazine industry as the pace of change accelerates and the journey from “audience” to “user” and ultimately to “customer”.
