Due to growth, a fantastic opportunity is available for an energetic reporter to join one of the UK’s leading journalism brands. The job holder is responsible for researching and writing stories based on The Lawyer’s proprietary research and other relevant data for daily online output. They must develop a strong understanding of the trends in the global commercial legal sector, cultivate industry contacts, work to deadlines and represent The Lawyer at industry events. It would suit a recent graduate with a journalism qualification or an ambitious individual with a background in research who is looking to move into journalism.



  • Sourcing and investigating exclusive angles on The Lawyer’s proprietary research and other data sources
  • Displaying initiative in sourcing information
  • Writing clear copy that needs minimal subbing
  • Strong accuracy in analysing trends and data
  • Fact-checking skills
  • Turning stories round and meeting daily deadlines
  • Interviewing industry contacts
  • Generating ideas, both news and long-form
  • Writing long-form data-driven content
  • Analysing data and working with the reporting and research teams to create stories and insight for monthly or annual products

  • Writing off-diary news

  • Working with other reporters to research long-form articles
